I used recordmydesktop. It is in active development and the mouse-follow was inplemented a quite a while ago. In fact I suggested it to the dev and it took him only a week to put out a new release with the mouse-follow feature.For this video I activated full-frame-capture, mouse-follow and added "-width 640 -height 480" in the "additional options" section. recordmydesktop is a cmd-line program but has nice GUIs for KDE and Gnome.

What program did you use for the screencast? I don't recall any open source program being able to follow the mouse in a bounded space...except for the Windows program Camstudio.
