I wanted to do a video that contrasted the market place at two distinct times of day . . . one video segment done before the stores and shopping kiosks are open . . . and one segment later in the day when everything is open for business . . . hope you like the video :)The music for the video WAS "Somewhere over the Rainbow" by the amazing Eva Cassidy, but that song is no longer allowed for use on YouTube, so the current song is "20 Questions" by Bret Phillips from YouTube's "Audio Swap" library.

My husband and I just got back home from Oahu on Jan 1st. Our hotel, the Oahu Waikiki Beachcomber was just 1/2 block from the Marketplace in this video, and there was another on the LHS of our hotel beside the alley. Both markets connected with a little food court. It didn't take me long to realize that NOTHING was made in Hawaii. EVERYTHING was made in China!!!! VERY DISSAPOINTING. I would estimate that 99% of the merchants were Japanese. Very grabby and insistent. The trees were fabulous. :)

ps..lovely touching music also...but u know brudduh IZ has the hawaiian version a splice of somewhere over the rainbow with what a wonderful world...you should search it on youtube..lovely also..

i livd there 2 years until very recently..i love it there..did u know they are closing the international market place??2009 may be the last year to visit this amazing place before developers take hold....hey i wonder if theyre doing duke's lane too or just the market place[they are technically seperate]..so sad...and they just revamped it in the last 3 years..errr..a piece of my heart is there..

I absolutely LOVE Oahu, Hawaii. I was stationed in Kaneohe Bay at the Marine Corps Air Station. I've never had so much fun before or since serving my 3 years there, from 1984-1987. And it still looks lovely today...I've got to get back over there, and soon!
